Our downstairs toilet is crying out for drastic actions. We are planning to redo it completely in a near future and are just waiting for a price quote from a contractor. I hope the quote is not going to make us choke. The sink and the bowl are going to be traditional ones, but otherwise we are planning to go a bit crazy with our loo...
This slightly wacky artwork we found from Helsinki is our starting point. Her name is "Madame Tyytyväinen Tähän Hetkeen" (Madame Satisfied with this Moment) and I find her so adorable. She will definitely get the pride of place on the wall.
Colour wise there will be burgundy, black and some gold. Not for the fainthearted, but we just want to have some FUN with that tiny space. No worries, we will try to do it in a way that things can be changed back to "normal" with few licks of paint, in case we ever want to sell the house ;-)

Little by little
I have managed to stay clear from colds and flues so far, but it looks like my luck has ran out. First my boyfriend catched some kind of bug and then he kindly passed it on to me. So far only a sore throat, fingers crossed it does not get any worse than this.
As we are more or less stuck at home (and my boyfriend is feeling a bit better already) I asked him to drill few holes on our walls today. We still have loads of artwork and some mirrors that need hanging and I finally want to start sorting them out, little by little. Drilling went ok, although I got slightly worried at one point when I started to hear loud cursing... oh dear.
Our walls are brick and plaster, which makes them very tricky to drill. Occasionally we have had pretty big chunks of plaster falling out, but no disasters this time, phew. Things are not finished yet, so you have to wait for the pictures a little while still.

Busy busy
I have been quite busy during the past week. Have not even had time to do much blogging or should I say ANY blogging. At least we have managed to do some small DIY chores around the house, which is nice, but tonight I was determinate to dedicate little bit of time to my favourite hobby :-)
I will leave you with few snapshots of angel wings, hearts and venus's. Have a good rest of the week.

Reading material
All the books I buy these days seem to be either history books or interior design books. They are unquestionably two of my favourite subjects (history was one of my favourite subjects at school already). I am endlessly fashinated by medieval times, Pharaos of Egypt and history of Britain. I am still waiting to tackle several books, including "In Search Of The Knights Templar" and also "Six Wives Of Henry VIII" (been browsing it a lot, but still need to read it from cover to cover) and "Elizabeth I". Ah those Tudors, can not get enough of them.
Even the novels I read are somehow history related. Currently I am reading "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory and "The Boleyn Inheritance" by the same author is waiting to be read. If the subject interests you I can recommend her books. She mixes historical facts with fiction and really brings the people to live; you can almost see, hear and smell them.
I also loved the BBC series "The Tudors", which second season ended on Friday to the beheading of Anne Boleyn (I told you I can not get enough of Tudors). Watch it if you can, it is very well made and I quite like the casting. Even though you know what is going to happen, it is still exciting. My pile of interior design books is growing rapidly and soon I am running out of space where to store them! But I can not help myself... There are too many great books out there.
