Dining room plan (part 1)

This is how our dining room table looks now, a dark brown colonial style teak table. Our dining room is very small and the dark floor together with dark furniture makes it look even smaller. This is why we decided to change things and the first step is the table.

We are going to sand the table down and make it look like this. It will be a lot of work but worth it.

What a beautiful plan! I can't wait to see the finished product!

I can't wait either, but I'm afraid I have no choice. Sanding the table down is going to be quite messy, so we'll have to do it outside. This means we have to wait for the spring and nicer weather... But good things come to those who wait ;-)

WHY MUST YOU PAINT EVERYTHING! Wood is a beautiful thing. When first reading your blog (which is stumbled upon when looking for something completely different) I was inspired by your dedication to sand back paint and return things to their original wooden glory. Yet on second read it was just the opposite. I think your side board and table are just beautiful in the dark finish - they are honest and tell such a story. Your touches are divine and inspirational and the wood looks supurb - why hide it.
